Waze will evolve thanks to theartificial intelligence. Google is going to develop voice recognition to improve the use of the driver assistance application, explains the specialist site Les Numériques Saturday. The company announced this new feature on October 31.
To report an incident, you’ll no longer be tempted to tap on your phone at the risk of putting yourself in danger. You’ll need to explain the situation out loud. “Waze will understand what you’re saying and quickly add a real-time warning to the map, without the need to use a specific voice command or press any additional buttons,” detailed Google.
In test phase
For greater precision, the application could be prompted to ask the user additional questions, such as describing the incident or indicating the nature of the object abandoned on the road. “Waze can categorize the report, helping other drivers to be aware of the danger and avoid it,” Google added.
This new feature is being tested by a select few. Testing began this week on Android and iOS, in English only. No details have been given as to when voice recognition will be deployed and available in French. Google simply indicated that it would be available “in the coming months”. In the meantime, take care on the road.
