The campaign of Kamala Harris has knocked on more than 100,000 doors in Pennsylvania this morning, as part of a final intensive mobilization effort. According to a campaign official, field teams canvassed more than 100,000 homes in this key state, starting at 11 a.m. East Coast time.
Although Kamala Harris isn’t campaigning in person today, her mobilization continues. “We’re making sure we don’t leave any space unoccupied on the ground,” a campaign adviser told CNNand that the order was to “strike until the end”.
Pennsylvania, a key state for victory
The Democratic strategy shows just how important Pennsylvania is to the Kamala Harris team, which is seeking to consolidate its base while trying to broaden its support. The Democrats hope to attract disappointed Republicans in conservative rural counties and bolster Latino support. Tim Walz is also planning a trip to Harrisburg, the state capital, to encourage voter turnout.
For her part, Kamala Harris is focusing on the media, taking part in radio interviews to reiterate the importance of voting. During her appearance on “The Big K Morning Show”, she stressed the importance of this day. “Today, I’m going to be talking to people all day to remind them to go out and vote. And on that note, I remind your listeners that today is Election Day,” she said, adding that “in our democracy, the people decide and your vote is your power.”
