An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on the Richter scale hit Taiwan on Wednesday, the Institute of Geological Studies of the USGS USGS said, causing the buildings to tremble in the capital of Taipei, according to AFP journalists on the spot.
The shock was located at a depth of approximately 31 kilometers from the east coast of Taiwan, 71 kilometers from the town of Hualien, the institute said. No damages or victims were reported immediately, according to local authorities.
