The players of the Swiss women’s soccer team have just shown that the famous saying, “the cobbler should stick to his last,” is as valid today as ever. A recent video of the team dancing to the rhythm of Colombian singer Karol G earned them criticism and mockery from internet users for their lack of rhythm.
If there is something that Latinos are famous for worldwide, it is their ability and grace to dance. For this reason, many feel they have the authority to criticize anyone who tries to move to one of the famous genres in the region.
The girls on the Swiss team did it with a lot of enthusiasm, but it’s clear that their motor skills are better tuned for the fast, powerful movements of soccer than for the cadence and feeling of a Latin song, and internet users did not forgive them for the lack of rhythm.
