Liverpool enjoyed a vast amount of success under Klopp, who left at the end of last season
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker says this current Reds team is not a patch on the all-conquering side under Jurgen Klopp that won the Champions League and Premier League… yet.
‘All the experiences that we have, it’s good to think about that. The good things and the bad things, the good moments and the bad moments, they will teach you. The bad moments I think they will teach a lot. So, yes, we can take a lot of lessons from last season.’
Alisson stated that he has been impressed by the impact Slot has made since taking charge
The core of the team remains fairly untouched, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah still present and playing most weeks. But Liverpool have freshened up in the midfield and forward departments.
‘Also to go every day and train hard and have the desire to improve as well, to be a better team and the desire of winning big things for this club. So that will always be an important point for a team that wants to be a winner.’
Alisson believes the current Liverpool side aren’t yet as good as Jurgen Klopp’s team
‘This season, this group has to create its own history. With the players who came in, they brought a lot of quality, and what we are doing, what we can do, we’re not going to erase the things we did in the past that were really special and will always be in the history of this club.’
Arne Slot is doing an outstanding job at Anfield and his team go to West Ham on Sunday six points clear of second-placed Arsenal in the title race with a game in hand. But one of the surviving stars from the previous title winners Alisson reckons they still have points to prove.
