To ensure his passion for foraging doesn’t lead to danger, King Charles has appointed a ‘Royal Mushroom Tester’. Both the monarch and Queen Camilla enjoy exploring their country estates in England and Scotland, gathering wild mushrooms to cook together.
Sandringham’s breakfast menu also features other treats like portobello mushrooms in filo pastry baskets ($15), a hearty bacon and egg fry-up ($17), and grilled pancakes ($13).
“It’s like a role from medieval times,” an insider explained.
Queen Camilla’s go-to winter breakfast, porridge with honey, has become a star offering at Sandringham estate’s restaurant. The dish, made with Scottish oats, milk, and cream, is topped with honey produced by the estate’s bees and is available to visitors for $10 per portion.
Tom Parker Bowles, Camilla’s son, revealed the recipe in his book Cooking & the Crown, sharing that his mother enjoys the dish daily in colder months, topped with her own honey.
