We know him as the nice, reasonable uncle from The Party at Homealongside John Stamos as the ultra-cool Uncle Jesse, and hen dad Danny Tanner, played by the the late Bob Saget. But it was another face that Dave Coulier showed us, almost thirty years after the end of the first broadcast of the must-see series family.
Shaved head, the 65-year-old actor explained to People had consulted a doctor in October after experiencing severe swelling of her lymph nodes following an upper respiratory infection. In short, a bad cold. Nevertheless, on his doctor’s advice, the actor underwent a battery of tests.
Bone marrow test negative
“Three days later, my doctors called me back and said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have very aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma’.” recalls the star, who falls from grace. “I went from ‘I’ve got a bit of a cold’ to ‘I’ve got cancer’. That’s a lot.”
Fortunately, some good news surfaced amidst these emotional waves: the bone marrow test performed turned out to be negative. “At that point, my chances of recovery went from low to 90%,” continues Dave Coulier. And behind the man who is married to photographer Melissa Bring, the ranks are closing. “We all got together and said, “Okay, where are we going?” And they had a very specific plan for how they were going to handle the situation,” he said.
“I love you and I’ll always be by your side”
The actor John Stamos didn’t fail to react to the news of this cancer with a series of photos testifying to their close complicity at the time of the series posted on Instagram, as well as these words: “my brother since day one. I love you and will always be by your side.”
The actor has already undergone chemotherapy, which began shortly after diagnosis, and the first of six scheduled treatments. “Some days I feel nauseous and dizzy, and other days the steroids kick in and I feel like I have a ton of energy,” he concedes. His shaved head? The star confessed to having resorted to it as a preventive measure.
