At the Parc des Princes,
“War on the pitch but peace in the world.” Before unfurling a large tifo throughout the virage in support of their club, PSG fans displayed a huge tarpaulin in the Auteuil virage in support of Palestine and Lebanon, just before the kick-off of the match between Paris and Atlético de Madridon the fourth day of the Champions League.
Around the red and blue PSG colors were depicted a bloodied Palestinian flag, the flag of Lebanon, Jerusalem, tanks and a person wearing a keffiyeh. During the first half, another banner was unfurled in the Auteuil virage to denounce Israel’s war. “Is the life of one child in Gaza worth less than another”. It was accompanied by another banner concerning the war in the Congo.
This is not the first time that the Virage Auteuil has shown its solidarity with Palestine. Last year, again in the Champions League against AC Milan, the CUP unfurled several banners: “Middle East: may all the innocent victims rest in peace. War crime in Gaza, what is the international community doing?” or “Paris opposes all forms of terrorism.” But this was the first time such a large tarpaulin had been formed.
