A feat followed by a difficult descent. An unusual mountaineer was rescued on Saturday at more than 3,800 meters above sea level on the normal route of Mont-Blanc. He could not fall due to a problem with his prosthesis, emergency services said.
The mountaineer, whose age and nationality have not been specified, managed to reach the Western European ceiling (4,805 m) but found himself in difficulty in the descent because his prosthesis had “rubbed” against his skin, said the rescuers of the Gendarmerie Peloton (PGHM) of High Mountain of Chamonix.

“I could not walk, I only had one leg. It was annoying,” added the Gendarmes, who explained to have evacuated it by helicopter of the tasting shelter at 3,815 m altitude to place it in the valley.
