Anger rumbles again in the fields. The unions farmers’ unions have planned a series of actions to demonstrate their opposition to the free trade treaty between the EU and Mercosur, despite a common position with the French government on the subject. “We demand a thorough modification of the Mercosur treaty”, demands the president of the FNSEA Arnaud Rousseau in an interview to the Sunday Tribune.
Ahead of “large-scale” actions scheduled for next week, mobilization begins this Sunday in several départements. The bulk of the actions are planned in Ile-de-Francewith several blockades expected in Yvelines and Essonne. According to the YvelinesRoad traffic could be severely disrupted on the N118 at Vélizy, where around 100 tractors are expected around 5pm.
Actions in major cities on Monday
According to BFMTVtwo companies of CRS should prevent them from advancing any further towards Paris. A convoy is also expected on the A10, with a blockage at the Longvilliers toll plaza. Smaller roads could be congested in the afternoon, including the RN20 at Etampes, the D74 at Auvernaux, the D17 and the RN12 between Houdan and Velizy.
Action is also expected in the Marne and Le Mans regions, where farmers are planning to tarpaulin community signs. The bulk of the mobilization is expected on Monday, with “feux de la colère” already planned for Arras, AmiensStrasbourg, Bordeaux, Dijon and Le Havre. Actions are also expected in Montpellier and Lyon, Clermont-Ferrand and between Nantes and Rennes.
