After the whole Juan Soto episode and overcoming the bitter taste of his farewell to head to Queens and be part of the Mets for the next 15 years, the Yankees have a lot of work ahead of them and are on the road to building a real powerhouse to reach the World Series again and now win it, with elite players who are arriving in The Bronx.
A key part of that plan is the Bombers’ general manager, Brian Cashman, who has already signed outfielder Cody Bellinger and left-handed pitcher two-time All-Star Max Fried, as well as closer Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers. But it doesn’t stop there, as Cashman wants to make these Yankees a team of the ages and is looking for another star on the mound, Japan’s Roki Sasaki.
The Bombers also want the Japanese star
And it’s not speculation or wishful thinking, it’s already a reality that the Yankees are looking to recruit the Japanese star. Cashman told the media a few hours ago that the Yankees “had been invited to meet in California with Roki Sasaki,” as the 23-year-old is now eligible to sign with MLB teams from January 1.
Of Sasaki, Cashman said during Fried’s introductory press conference: “I’m happy that we have an opportunity. He’s extremely talented, no doubt about it, he’s got a chance to be one of the great pitchers in the world. It would be nice to be able to have Yankee Stadium as his home“.
